The paper presents the tourism history in the Giant Mountains (Krkonoše in Czech, Karkonosze in Polish) in the Czech Republic in the first half of the 19th century with regard to the current status in research of the Czech and Polish historians and the new perspective possibility. The authors of the studies and monographies derived information especially from the printed matters (travelogues, guidebooks and collections of veduts) from the same period and printed diaries; therefore authors' point of view is limited.
Current often ignored sources to this topic are so-called ego-documents, i.e. the authors of these documents are main characters of these documents and these documents were not meant for publishing. The ego-documents include diaries, memories, autobiographies, visitors books and correspondences.
Therefore, the second part of the paper includes chronological list of extant personally written sources of authors of the Czech nationality and short introducing of their authors. Interpretation and comparison of these sources will bring about the vivid picture of the travelling in the Giant Mountains.
