A Main Character in Spoken Narratives of younger school-aged children

Abstract

In the article we present results of the analysis of a main character in spoken narratives of children of early school age, with emphasis on developmental tendencies and differences between boys and girls. In this research we mainly observed types of characters, how main characters are introduced in the beginning of narratives, what is their inner world, their goal-directed activity and social space to which they belong.

In all examined aspects we have remarked considerable developmental tendencies and in several of them also differences between boys and girls.
