Interdisciplinary tasks in chemistry for high school students and success in solutions connected with mathematical skills

Abstract

To better understand the students' methods of solving tasks, it is necessary to specify those areas in the curriculum content of chemistry that are the most problematic. The interdisciplinary problems are based on logical connections between chemistry, mathematics and other sciences.

There were used two research tools: first, a survey by tests, based on extensive research of students' skills in chemistry in past years; second, the method of personal interviews with high school teachers of chemistry, mathematics and other subjects. Based on the results we are now creating didactic materials which could contribute to solving these problems.

Practical use of materials and verification of tasks are being performed with high school students.
