Abstract

On the turn of the 19th and 20th century many European countries with Slavic roots were deeply influenced by French art style. In Czech environment Mánes Union of Fine Arts played a vital role as they were the ones organizing after 1902 exhibitions of French art in Prague.

In 1909 they presented the oeuvre of Émila-Antoina Bourdelle which greatly inspired contemporary Czech artists. Mánes Union of Fine Arts actively contributed to Bourdelle's legacy until 1929 when an extensive postmortal exhibition was supposed to take place in Prague.
