Abstract
Abstrakt (anglicky): This paper focuses on the study of the past through historical spontaneous inscriptions and drawings. Their importance is illustrated by several case studies ranging from the Palaeolithic parietal drawings and paintings, through medieval spontaneous inscriptions and drawings to the recent past, which is presented through prisoners' inscriptions on the walls of the Terezin ghetto.
The differences between historical and contemporary graffiti will be discussed. This paper aims to highlight the importance of which spontaneous inscriptions can have as sources of information not only for restorers, but also for researchers in the field of cultural and social sciences.
