Abstract

During the 7th season, which took place between January and March 2015, Universidad de Jaén decided to re-excavate the rock-cut tomb QH31 of Sarenput II. Despite the previous works, neither precise information about archaeological finds nor plan of its substructure existed.

The works focused on cleaning of the ramp, shaft and surrounding funerary chambers, and, among other objects, yielded a fragment of a Middle Kingdom inner coffin with an exceptionally elaborate granary scene. The aims of this paper are to present the context of this new find and to discuss its particularity.

Mainly to explore whether it might be a product of a local tradition or whether it was rather influenced or even made by artisans coming from elsewhere.
