The paper here presented intends to be an analysis of the soteriological component in Mithraic mysteries, with particular attention at the ritual and the practices of the above-mentioned cult. The question concerns the actual soteriological value of Mithraic practices, and the distance from the Christian perspective, in regards to the distinction of the peculiarities and ways of approach of the study of such ritual.
In particular, it is examined the difference between the Mithraism and the other cults, considering the preeminence of one deity above the others, in order to determine if the henotheistic tendency could be source of the soteriological peculiarity of the cult. It is moreover discussed the ritual practice and the approach of the believers to the cult, the boundaries which delimit and differ the Mithraic religion and the ways in which the cult found place in the Roman Empire of Late Antiquity.
In the conclusive part of the article, it is established if it is proper to refer the soteriology to the Mithraic mysteries, and so to use the term Soteriology, applying this characteristic to the cult and its practices, and the way how it is possible to discuss about salvation in the Mithras religion.
