Quarrelsome Academics, Plagues, and Bathing Nuns: Religious Tensions in Early Modern Medical Texts

Abstrakt

The paper deals with various forms of violence found in early modern academic medical writing. Three main areas are outlined: verbal violence in academic disputes, violent events during plague epidemics described by physicians, and finally supression of personal freedoms of female members of the Dominican order.
