From narration to death philosophy - about Own death by Péter Nádas

Abstract

This paper discusses the short story titled 'Own death', by a Hungarian prose writer Péter Nádas. The story deals with the experience of death the author had as a result of his heart attack.

The paper attempts to analyze the narrative structure of the text, especially the narrator himself and the grammatical forms he uses. Mieke Bal's concept of focalization is applied to conduct the analysis.
