Patients with terminal renal failure (ESRD) have a high mortality cardiovascular disease (CVED). At present, attention is paid to individual components of lipid metabolism - LDL and HDL lipoprotein subfractions.
In ESRD patients with high volume hemodiafiltration (HV HDF) we monitored changes in LDL and HDL subfraction sizes. Subfractions were correlated with selected clinical and biochemical parameters at baseline and after 5 years. 57 patients and 50 controls were enrolled without alteration of renal function.
We examined the clinical-biochemical parameters and subfractions HDL and LDL were separated by electrophoresis on the Quantimetrix Lipoprint (TM).
