Abstract

The study is focused on branch research. This field of research experienced a turbulent development in 1950s.

Many new research institutes were established. Research Institute of Local Economy represents an example institution that concentrated on research both in humanities and in natural sciences and design development.

Its activities included consumer goods and communal economy, therefore the institute represents a fitting socio-economic case study for the 1950s era. The author sought to depict important aspects in activities of this research institute and to set them into context of that turbulent period.
