Abstract

The relative pronoun jenž is one of those forms of Literary (Standard) Czech that a lot of native speakers can't use correctly, mostly for historical reasons. In this paper, we outline the history and specific features of this pronoun.

An evidence-based data analysis shows that there are two forms that require more language skills to be used correctly: the již form (feminine, accusative singular as well as masculine, nominative, plural) and jejž form (masculine, accusative, singular).
