The recent rise of nationalist discourse worldwide creates a need for discussion and a re-evaluation of the concepts of influence, intersection, and interaction within, as well as between cultures. The conference adressed Irish writing, society, history or politics in the context of this discussion, with special attention to the inherent permeability of culture and society, and the role of personal, historical, literary and other influences in various areas of Irish Studies.
