Abstract
The article concerns the issue of myth and mythologization in contemporary literature. The focus of the article is on the concept of an "author's myth".
The article examines the origins of this genre, its structural features and the meaning of mythological aspects in a narrative. Considerable attention is paid to the issues of memory and history and their influence on the author's myth.
The study has shown that within the author's myth a specific space is created which combines several periods of time and makes the reader a witness of the world history. Historical events are presented from the characters' perspective and thus acquire a mythological character.
The author's myth creates a specific image of reality which is built on the principles of analogy, inversion, collage and carnivalization.
