Abstract

This paper focuses on tensions within the Czechoslovak Social Democracy in the late summer and the fall of 1947. The main issue which was being in this very period discussed inside the Social Democratic Party was the question of cooperation between Social Democrats and Communists.

From that point of view, the most important event was the Brno congress of the Social Democratic Party in November, 1947. For that reason, I focus on its preparations, course and consequences.

Besides intraparty feuding within the Social Democratic Party I am also interested in the Communists' and the National Socialists' attempts to cooperate with the Social Democracy.
