In the Dolby 307 book we present the UMPRUM Painting Studio and its theoretical background. The main accent is put on the period between 2010-2017 and on the contemporary discussion of what the "medium of painting" means.
Although contemporary painters overlay their canvas as such, painting still retains its formal basis in its core. In the book, the colloquium intertwines with contemporary (German) painters and theoretical translations (David Joselit, Sebastian Egenhofer) as well as the fictional (Michel Houellebecq) texts.
The goal is to show painting not only as a static image in the desktop but also as a living medium. The work of the students who passed through the Studio of Painting under the direction of Jiří Černický and Mark Meduna are thus confronted with what the painting can mean and how its forms may be different.
