Abstract

Serious injuries, illnesses and deaths of children are among the most challenging life events. It is precisely because of their over-limit character that they are indicative of the first psychological help / crisis intervention, and thus the activation of the Intervention Service of EMS of Southern Bohemian Region.

This service was launched in the conditions of EMS of Southern Bohemian Region on 4th May 2016. Since then it has been used more than 40 times for the needs of the secondary victims, most frequently the bereaved persons, after the death of close person.

The service is provided by a team of 11 trained professionals - emergency paramedics and the psychologist of EMS, Southern Bohemian Region. The Intervent is activated by the EMS crew following its depart, but only with the consent of the affected.

Indications are, for example, sudden death, severe injury, suicide, traffic accident, large scale accident, or serious trauma / death of the child.
