Abstract

This paper deals with the application of Belbin's team roles test on the full-time students of master's branch of study Management of Physical Education and Sport at Faculty of Physical Education and Sport at Charles University in Prague. Mentioned branch of study prepares students for performing the managerial functions in the field of sport and because of that was investigated, which role students hold in the team work.

In the past, the division of work was so that the individual roles were allocated based on the tradition or the stable behavior, which was typical for the particular community of people. Over time appeared the trend to find a person with ideal characteristics for the team leadership.

It was found soon that no person like this exists, or only very rarely. Many characteristics, which are required for the right manager, are in fact frequently mutually exclusive.

Currently, easier option therefore seems to build the team of more people - those people, whose characteristics are necessary for successful business management. The question how to properly use and allocate people into the teams got to the forefront.

After the introduction of Belbin's test are in the text of the paper presented research results. The quantitative survey based on the standardized paper questioning was realized on the sample of students (N=76) during the December 2014.

Thanks to the identification questions in the recording sheet were all findings compared by several indicators as for example respondents' gender, current year of master's study, age or size of residence in terms of living population. The results are finally compared with the same surveys on the sample of students of branch Sports Management at Faculty of Sports Studies at Masaryk University in Brno and of branch Recreology at Faculty of Physical Culture at Palacky University in Olomouc.
