Linguistic aspect of mathematical word problems and its impact on the success of pupil's solution

Abstract

The paper presents a doctoral research project that connects two distant domains - Czech language (mother tongue) and mathematics as school subjects. The topic of the project is more specifically mathematical word problems and reading comprehension skills as a prerequisite for their successful solution.

The paper presents purpose and methodology of the research and it summarizes results of the pilot study.
