The way day-fines are fixed in the Czech Republic is unclear. In order to propose changes of the Czech system, all European countries using day-fines are compared and analysed.
Three main areas are then particularly discussed: The fixing of the amount of one day fine, of the number of day fines and of the number of days of imprisonment in a case of a default. The article closes with discussion about different approaches which might change the current practise.
A way which might be used by the Supreme prosecutor's Office is considered to be the most suitable one.
