Abstract
The paper reflects on theoretical background of social work which the professional literature has elaborated in terms of paradigms. The aim of the empirical survey was to find out work priorities of future social workers.
Psychotherapeutic paradigm has dominated but spiritual approaches have also been recognized. Least popular was the administrative/maintenance paradigm.
The archetype of social work has been mostly correlated with psychotherapeutic and spiritual paradigms.
