Spatial differentiation of age population structure of Prague

Publication at Faculty of Science |
2017

Abstract

The aim of this chapter is to describe and explain the development of spatial differentiation of the age structure in Prague. The main assumption of the chapter is that current demographic processes, such as the transformation of the reproductive behaviour of the young generation and the aging of the population, are somewhat reflected in the residential structure of the Prague districts.

To monitor residential structures, data and spatial analysis focused on the evaluation of the transformations of age composition of the population of Prague. Close attention is paid to the distribution of young people and seniors, both in different concentric zones of the city, types of buildings and individual urban districts.

In the end, the chapter is supplemented by a case study of a site with a specific age structure.
