Abstract

Homeschooling is growing, yet still marginal educational practice in the Czech Republic. Parents, who decided to homeschool their children, face number of challenges.

Not only is this practice closely scrutinized by institutions, but their decision is also frequently challenged in both private and public interactions. Homeschooling parents are accused of preventing their children from having meaningful relationships with their peers and distorting the educational standards.

In our exploratory study with 50 parents with homeschooling experience, we have learned about how the homeschooling parents legitimize their decision.
