Abstrakt
The chapter discusses democracy as a political regime, in the context of social theory, and stresses the institutional and substantive dimensions as well as the variety of significations democracy has taken both historically and comparatively. It further discusses the idea of 'post-democracy' as well as that of cosmopolitanism.
