Abstract
The article deals with the phenomenon of pluricentrism, non-dominant varieties and methodological approaches. It reflects the situation in German as well as in other languages.It sums up and critically evaluates the findings from an international conference which took place in July 2017 in Mainz.
The article argues in favor of language management approach.
