Spatial Data Models : From 2D to 3D

Publication at Faculty of Science |
2017

Abstract

Differences in the dimensions used in spatial object models impact the possibilities available for analysis as well as the accuracy of such analysis and the quality of graphical presentation. The transition from describing spatial features in a plane, which had long been the standard within traditional cartography, towards a three-dimensional approach within geographic information systems is an important objective, both in contemporary research and software development.
