Migration is the most important process influencing changes in socio-spatial population structure. The chapter includes six map sheets evaluating historical and current migratory population behaviour in the territory of Czechia.
The first map sheet is dedicated to the overall balance of movement distinguishing between internal and international migration and also takes into account the post-war re-settlement of borderlands, which was a significant event in Czech history and continues to influence the socio-economic situation of those regions. The following three map sheets are focused on issues of internal migration, changes in the direction of migration flows and the nature of migrants.
This continues with an evaluation of international migration covering important periods in the history of migration - inter-war migration, the period after WWII, the emigration of the 1960s and the economic boom of 2006-2008, all linked to the present situation. A final map sheet looks at those persons who still reside in the place where they were born.
