Abstract

Less attention has been dedicated in Czechia to spatial differentiation in the level and structure of crime than to other social themes. Furthermore, the evaluation of historical factors is complicated by the lack of statistical data.

The chapter thus provides a largely unique representation of changes in the pattern of registered crimes in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. The first map sheet shows the distribution of crimes offenders, sex and age structure and the crimes they were sentenced for.

The development and distribution of crimes are evaluated in the following map sheet showing in particular the noticeable rise in crime after 1989 and its impact on separate Czech districts. The final theme is the crime structure, where changes in violent, moral, property and economic crimes are recorded.
