The Role of Internet in Overcoming the Current Crisis in Psychology

Publication at Faculty of Social Sciences |
2017

Abstract

The problems with low replicability and reliability of results of psychological research were not prominently discussed until the last few years. The reason is not that these problems did not previously exist, but rather that the development of the Internet and computing technologies allowed researchers to communicate about these problems more effectively and to look for their practical solutions as well.

The contribution demonstrates on specific examples the role of open-access journals, social networks, MOOCs, new web platforms, and other tools during the so-called "replication crisis" in psychology and how they can be used to overcome it.
