Experimental paradigm of virtual teleportations with applied non-competitive NMDA receptor antagonist MK-801, as described in this work, has a potential to bring not only crucial evidence for or against validity of Rolls' model of attractor nature of chizophrenia and other mental disorders, but also to bring information about dynamics of delusional perception of relations and a unique insight into formation of adaptive associations between various mental representations. We are able to study neurophysiological correlates of functional equivalence between stimuli and to study creation of arbitrary associations, the cornerstones of symbolic systems like language.
Present preliminary data are consistent with Rollsʼ hypothesis and demonstrate a destabilisation of neuronal network activity. In this work, we discuss the context of this phenomenon in detail as well as possible neuronal network dynamics during association or even fusion of memory traces.
