Abstract

Intensive week-long workshop "Editing Medieval Texts: Paleography, Codicology, Philology" provided training in the methodologies of editing medieval texts, as well as the techniques necessary for working with medieval manuscripts (palaeography, codicology, book history, material bibliography, alongside knowledge of relevant databases and electronic resources). The course mixed lectures and practical sessions, encouraging thematic group work.

Each of the students gave a presentation of their work, and received preliminary feedback from peers and convenors. The workshop was held in Klosterneuburg under the supervision of Dr.

M. Haltrich.

It had the unique vantage of enabling students to work at the heart of a medieval monastic library holding c.1200 manuscripts, to which they had a privileged hands-on access, especially through in-depth group work.
