Experience of exile. The fate of the exiles from the territory of the former Russian Empire in the inter-war Czechoslovakia

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2017

Abstract

In the 1920s, Czechoslovakia became one of the main target countries of a multinational wave of exiles fleeing from the territory of the former imperial empire in the aftermath of the Bolshevik coup. Thanks to the extremely helpful attitude of the young republic, there were many educational and scientific institutions in the twenties and thirties, many Russian, Ukrainian and Belorussian periodicals, publishing houses, professional organizations and societies, many scientists, artists, writers, actors and artists opera singers.

Prague has become an unforgettable center of "Russia outside Russia". The trilingual publication Exile Experience is a catalog of a successful exhibition of the National Literature Memorial, expanded by several deeper probes on individual themes.
