Abstract

Children with autism spectrum disorder should gain swimming literacy - in other words they should know the necessary skills to be safe in water. Teaching aquatic skills to children with ASD is based on the programs of preparatory and basic swimming lessons however the specifics such as the teacher-pupil interaction, adapted conditions and methods have to be taken into account.

Today, the number of children with special needs integrated into the main educational program and leisure activities has been increasing. The aim of this paper is to present one of the programs used for the education of children with autism spectrum disorder and its implementation into the conditions of teaching aquatic skills to these children.

We will present the methods of structured learning. The presentation evaluates four years of organizing water physical activities for children with autism spectrum disorder.
