Abstract
The essay On the principles of ancient Greek music theory and practice draws parallels and points out differences between ancient and modern musical terminology in order to prevent a reader of an ancient Greek musicological treatise from possible confusion over the terms used in the text. The essay also investigates the question of polyphony in ancient Greek music.
