"Völkisch" nationalism, whose origins date back to the 19th century, has expanded its influence since the time of the German Empire and survives to this day. The biographical article about Julius Langbehn shows how the author of the famous book "Rembrandt als Erzieher" influenced not only the conservative ideology of the 20th century but also the national socialist ideology.
