The Complex Approach to Treatment of Pain in Multiple Sclerosis

Abstract

Pain and irritative disorders of sensation take a very frequent part of multiple sclerosis (MS) symptomatology. There is wide range of pain syndromes in MS and they are often combined.

Their different aetiology make diagnostic as well as therapy complicated. The aim of the article is to describe diagnostics and multidisciplinary approach in therapy of pain in MS.

Multidisciplinary approach in pain therapy encloses besides pharmacotherapy also management of psychological and social aspects of pain. Close collaboration of neurologists, physiotherapy specialists, clinical psychologists and psychiatrists should be part of standard therapy guidelines.
