Venous thromboembolic disease (TEN) is still a very widespread serious illness, in which genetic factors play an important role. The subject of this review is a summary of the current knowledge of hereditary thrombophilia and their simplified classification.
There is also a consensual recommendation of three professional societies - the Czech Society for Thrombosis and Haemostasis of the Czech Medical Society, the Czech Hematology Society of the ČLS JEP and the Society of Medical Genetics and Genomics ČLS JEP - for genetic testing in selected groups of patients with a high TEN risk.
