Abstract
In his monograph, the author proposes new and detailed account on one of the essential passages of the New Testament, the Sermon on the Mount (Mt 5-7), which contains a summary of the teaching of Jesus, and is considered to be the fundamental text of Christian ethics. The author offers not only his own creative and insightful interpretation but also a comprehensive survey of the history of reception and interpretation of this crucial text of the Christian tradition.
Obviously, distinctive attention is devoted to critical discussion with the most recent scholarship, however, especially valuable and beneficial for the readers is his systematic consideration of the Czech interpretative tradition from the time of humanism to the present day.
