Abstrakt
The paper describes the use of personal and geographical names in Czech proverbs from the 17th century on, providing characteristics of the names and discussing the functions of their specific types, such as talking names. A decline of use of the names in proverbs and more than twice as higher use of personal names appear to be the two most general characteristics of the Czech proverbs over the four centuries.
