Problems of Czech language in homeschooling

Abstract

The article reacts to present situation of growing number of pupils educated out of mainstream in homeschooling instead of standard schools. It is not oriented towards possible problems of pupils educated at home but towards their teachers - home educators, mostly parents of these children.

It deals with their pedagogical preparation, educational objectives, methodology and ways of selecting and organizing materials in a crucial educational field - Czech language. Based on survey among parents, it deduces their relation to contents of subject Czech language, mainly Czech grammar, and it tries to reveal the cause of negative attitude towards it.

It comments on textbooks as a main source of support of home educators. The solution of some problematic aspects could be seen in raising awareness, preparing events for home educators oriented to linking communicative and language eucation.
