Abstract

An essay analyzing the influence of Hincmar of Reims on the formation of the West Frankish Empire. The text follows two issues: Hinkmar's role in consolidating the position of the West Frankish Empire in the late Carolinian political structures of Western Europe, and the significance of its concept for the formation of basic principles in the relationship of the king and elites of the future French kingdom.
