Abstract
In the twentieth century certain events did occur in the Orthodox Church - like the entrance of some representatives of the Orthodox Church into the ecumenical movement or the introduction of the new calendar in certain local Orthodox Churches. A mosaic is created by some events, sayings, and quotations - mainly from the Greek and Russian Orthodox environment.
This mosaic despite its being imperfect and incomplete nevertheless forms a picture of the Orthodox Church in the twentieth century. To understand better the meaning of the process which was iniciated into the Orthodox Church in the last century, the treatise starts with an excursion into the Church history of the 9th - 11th century.
