Abstract

Training of mediation skills has some specifics projecting the interdisciplinary nature of ADR. During relatively short existence of the mediation education in the Central European area, the mediation field has proved to prefer some approaches notwithstanding the previous education of trainees and their area of practice.

Among those, the most popular are the lecturing on theory of dispute resolution, participation in mock mediation cases and involvement in "real" mediation cases either as an observant or as a co-mediator. Those approaches originate from the USA and Western European countries where the modern ADR was born.

However, should not they be adapted to a specific milieu of the Central and Eastern European region?
