A SURVIVAL KIT FOR NGOs: NGO Management Handbook

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2017

Abstract

Management of a nonprofit is a unique art - and a demanding one. For a manager it can be like a decathlon every day.

The number of non-profit institutions in the Czech Republic is increasing annually. And many of the existing organizations have been professionalized.

Compared to a few years ago, they operate with larger budgets, employ more staff, engage in broader partnerships, communicate more and make more decisions in the virtual world, and face harder tasks. The net impact of these changes places increasing demands on the individuals responsible for management and governance.

The knowledge and skills that were a few years ago enough to run an NGO are becoming obsolete, and must be replaced by new ones. The purpose of this book is to help nonprofit decision makers.

Sound decisions are based on a thorough understanding of any given situation, its challenges, and their possible situations. This publication contains descriptions of 60 common challenges and 180 recommendations for solutions.

It combines the experience and expertise of five authors with 11 drawings by Mirek Kemel and 24 photographs by Jindřich Štreit - it is A Survival Kit for NGOs.
