Abstract
The chapter reviews the main tendencies in the adaptation of Old Norse stories as well as the use of Old Norse motifs and formal structures in Icelandic literature, focusing on the period between 1750 and 1920. The chapter includes detailed information on the significant authors of each period and an analysis of selected works together with the author's own translations of selected excerpts from the works.
