Abstract

Felty's syndrome causes an increased risk of mortality in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. However, a single treatment strategy has not yet been developed to influence neutropenia as a basic diagnostic criterion.

This case report presents a 70-year old patient with difficulty treatable severe neutropenia, complicated by recurrent infections. After considering possible risks and benefits, and also for the possible development of chronic leukaemia cyclosporin A was introduced into therapy with corticoids.

This therapy was successful and normalization of neutrophils occurred.
