Latvian State Historical Archive Fund of Riga-Mitau Orthodox Bishop's Office within the context of the interdenominational situation research in the District of Illuxt
Abstrakt
The article based on the material of the Latvian state Historical Archives from Riga-Mitau Orthodox Bishop's Office (fund 7462) which provides information on understanding of interdenominational relations.This fund contains cases of issues between people of various beliefs, their mutual complaints as well as court files. The publication consists of four parts.
The first one characterises the policy of the Russian Empire against the parishes of the Old Believers. The second presents an explanation of the historical contect of the formation of parishes of 'Edinovertsi' (single-believers).
The third provides an insight into the ethnical and religious diversity of the District of Illuxt in the 19th century. The fourth analyses the activities of Orthodox missionaries among the Old Believers of the District of Illuxt.
