The article tells about the Czechoslavic Ethnographic Exhibition, pre-conditions for its creation, its organisation and significance in the society of the time. The ethnographic exhibition in Prague served as a source of inspiration for the Latvian Ethnographic Exhibition in Riga in 1896.

The first part of the article reveals political processes of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The second part of the article characterises historical and cultural connections between Czech and Slovak nations, highlighting their similarities and differences, and the terms 'Czechoslavic' and 'Czechoslovak' are explained.

The third part of the article analyses the preparatory process of the Czechoslavic Ethnographic Exhibition, and the significance of the exhibition in the course of history.
