This text deals with the issue of alternative schools and innovative programs in the Czech Republic. It includes historical excursion.

It presents their current place in education in the Czech Republic. It considers possibilities and conditions of the influence of initiatives of alternative schools and innovative programs for the quality of teaching and results in education in major schools.
