Abstract
The paper is devoted to a short reflection on the status of Czech in the contemporary world and to a brief introduction to some selected forms of teaching of the Czech language (and literature) in foreign educational institutions. It also brings some historical facts and dates connected with Czech as the national and international language.
Based on her own experience and cooperation with various institutions: the system of the European Schools, Czech Schools without Borders, and the Program to support Czech cultural heritage abroad (which has two parts: Compatriot educational program and Lecturers in the Czech language and literature), the author focuses on primary and secondary education.
